Entrance to market building.
This two story building, built by the Nantong City government in 1997 to house free
markets, has meat, fish and poultry on the first floor and fresh produce on the second
floor. It's located just off Qing Nian Road in the downtown area of Nantong. The
market operates from 5:00 am to 7 :00 pm daily. |

hall.
On the second floor, there are 185 vendors stalls. The front 2/3's are occupied by
resellers and the rear 1/3 by farmers. Typical of the government's incentives to
farmers, the farmers only pay an RMB 120 (US$ 14) monthly market fee, while the resellers
pay RMB 320 (US$ 38) fee. These fees include the market management, stall rental fee
and turnover taxes (for resellers only).
