Nanchang Road Morning Market

This morning market is nearly twice as big as the Xiang Yang Road Market.  It's officially one long block between Xiang Yang (South) Road
(xiangyang4.GIF (203 bytes)) and Shanxi (South) Road (shanxi4.gif (208 bytes)) on Nanchang Road, but  the adjoining block between Shanxi (South) Road and  Maoming (South) Road (maoming.gif (196 bytes)) (not part of the official market), also attracts many vendors who hope to avoid paying the management fee while capturing the overflow from the official market.

Like the Xiang Yang Road Market, the Nanchang Road Market is in the heart of downtown Shanghai.  But it's in a slightly more fashionable area, only one block from Huaihai Road (huaihai4.gif (204 bytes)) , which is one of Shanghai's busiest shopping streets and was considered Shanghai's equivalent of Paris' Champs-Elysées in the 1930's and today is compared to Tokyo's Ginza.
