Food Products Market

I was astounded to find that one of Shanghai's major wholesale produce markets is
located adjacent to the high-rent "financial" district in the heart of old
Shanghai on Zhongshan Nanlu (), referred to in English as The Bund. The market
has two entrances, each with a different name. Entering this market from Xiao Dong Men (
), which is a ½ block
from The Bund, the market is called "16 Shops" Non-Staple Food Products
Market. There you'll first find the all-day wholesale fish and meat market in
open-air arcade. It flows into a semi-enclosed wholesale vegetable market,
which is also accessible from its main entrance along The Bund and is called Shanghai City
Non-Staple Food Products Market. Though the vegetable market is open from 3:00 a.m.
-1:00 p.m. daily, the bustle of activity is over by about 8 a.m.
