This is an open-air market in an alleyway bordering on the edge of a warren of apartment buildings in Beijing's embassy district. The main market concourse is lined with stately plane trees, making it a charming, though crowded, place to shop. Clientele include many foreigners from embassies, which border the market area.  It's one of Beijing's better and more expensive free markets.
An upscale all-day, open-air market
8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. daily, year-round.
On an average summer day, there are 80 - 100 vendors, representing a typical cross section of the free market system -- about 80% buy their produce from a wholesale market and 20% either buy their produce from farmers around the outskirts of Beijing or are the farmers themselves.

Resellers, who buy from wholesale
markets, sell a variety of produce.

Farmers sell 1 - 2 items
at very cheap prices.
