Huaken Yuegezhuang Wholesale Market

Located in the Feng Tai District about 20 km northwest from downtown Beijing, this  is Beijing's largest wholesale market and it is open to wholesale buyers as well as retail buyers 4:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. daily. It's a crowded and bustling place. Annual sales exceed US$ 220 million on daily turnover of 2.5 million kg. of produce, mostly vegetables -- that's equivalent to 1/3 of the daily  consumption of Beijing's 10 million people!   Produce sold at this market comes from all parts of China, brought in mostly by independent truckers who buy directly from the farmers. Only a small percentage of produce comes from the township-village farms surrounding Beijing.
