Turnip Thread Cakes

iturnip.jpg (30218 bytes) An oval-shaped tin cup, suspended at the end of an arched handle, is first filled with a shredded turnip mixture and then with a thin flour-based batter.  The cup is placed in the hot oil and the contents fry to a golden brown.  These cakes are tender and surprisingly delicate in texture and flavor.
