A pair of 12" - 14" long batons of dough, joined at both ends, are deep fried for 30 seconds to a puffy, golden brown.   Prices average RMB 0.4 - 0.5 (US$ 0.05 - 0.06) per piece. In northern China, they are dipped into a thin soy bean "milk", which comes in sweet and salty versions.  In southern China, they're cut into 1" pieces and buried in a bowl of rice porridge.
